These terms govern the Skiing the Balkans mobile apps for iOS and Android and the website www.skiingthebalkans.com. They are provided by XCo Publishing EOOD, 11 Orel St., fl. 3, apt. 5, Lozenets district, 1407 Sofia, Bulgaria, UIC 202074802, VAT BG202074802 (“we”). The product
The app is a digital guidebook: regions, areas, routes, maps and related media for backcountry skiing in Bulgaria. A free sample route is available. Full Access (all routes, offline maps, GPX export) is a one-time in-app purchase through Apple or Google — not a subscription; the price and what it includes are shown in the store before you buy.
Mountain risk — read this
Backcountry skiing and mountain travel are dangerous. Conditions change, and route descriptions, maps and tracks can be incomplete or out of date. The app, the guidebook and this website are not avalanche training, a rescue service, or a substitute for your own judgment. You are responsible for forecasts, gear, partners, and whether you go. The in-app safety warning is part of these terms.
Assumption of risk and liability
You use the app, the guidebook and this website entirely at your own risk and accept all risks of backcountry skiing and mountain travel. The content is general information for trip planning, not advice for any specific trip or conditions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for death, personal injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of the content, from decisions you make or activities you undertake in the mountains, or from any inaccuracy, omission or out-of-date information in the content.
Accounts and purchases
Sign-in is optional for the free sample. Purchases, restores and refunds are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play under their rules and applicable law; we never receive your card details. Your statutory rights for digital content, including the legal guarantee of conformity, apply. If we make a change that materially and negatively affects the Full Access you bought, we will tell you in advance and you keep the rights the law gives you. You can delete your account at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your content
A profile photo you add stays on your device. You grant us no licence to publish it. Do not upload unlawful material.
Our content
Guidebook text, photos, maps, tracks and branding — in the app, the book and on this website — are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright. You may use them for personal trip planning. You may not scrape, republish or resell them, or use them to build a competing product.
Acceptable use
Do not attack the app, the website or our services, share sign-in links to hijack accounts, or circumvent Full Access except as allowed by the stores (for example a legitimate restore).
Apple and Google
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google; they are not responsible for the app or its content and have no obligation to provide support, but they are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
Changes, law and complaints
We may update the app and these terms; we will show the new date here and tell app users about material changes in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria, without depriving you of the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live. Please send complaints to xcopublishing@xcosports.com. You can also contact the Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection (kzp.bg).
